Salem deploys security robots in Pringle Parkade parking garage

https://www.koin.com/news/salem/security-robots-pringle-parkade-parking-garage/

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Auto, Tars and Billy work the nightshift. They aren’t police or guard dogs, though. They’re robots.

The city of Salem began using security robots to patrol the Pringle Parkade parking garage on Feb. 2 as part of a two-month pilot program with Oregon-based company Daxbot.

The robots work in 15-hour shifts, from 4 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night.

When the robots identify a person, live monitoring begins, according to a press release from the city. From there, the robots can detect if a person is engaging in unacceptable behavior such as vandalism, partying or theft, and contact 911 if needed.
