Alexis Frank and Mary Geren each attended the Women's March on Washington following President Trump's inauguration in January. Now they are both running as Democratic candidates for Congress.
Frank, a 26-year-old U.S. Army veteran from Rock Hill, is one of three Democrats seeking the seat former U.S. Rep. Mick Mulvaney gave up when he became Trump's budget director. Five Republicans and two third-party candidates also are vying for the seat representing South Carolina's 5th Congressional District.
Geren, a 41-year-old English instructor at Tri-County Technical College, kicked off her bid Monday to unseat U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan. The Republican from Laurens is serving his fourth term.
Frank and Geren said Trump's policies helped inspire their long-shot candidacies.

(2 posts)Archie Parnell also attended the Women's March on Washington with his wife and two daughters. He recently attended the Tax Day March in Washington and is committed to making sure Trump shows his taxes like every other President since Watergate. He is the strongest progressive candidate we have here in the SC District 5 race. He has spent his life working as a Tax Expert for businesses and government experience that makes him a candidate that can compete against Republicans to win this seat. We need to send him to Washington to get things done for the people of America. He supports working families, wants to preserve and protect our health care and public schools. He has a real fighting chance to turn SC District 5 Blue. Learn more about him at www.Archieparnell.com
