SC Gov. Henry McMaster supports Paris climate accord pullout during Charleston hurricane appearance

Gov. Henry McMaster voiced full support for the Trump administration's decision to pull out of the landmark Paris climate accord — a move that regional, national and international conservation interests have decried as wrong and short-sighted.

McMaster spoke about the accord Friday in North Charleston as he left a meeting with local officials regarding the June 1 start of hurricane season.

Asked whether he agreed with the president's decision and what it would mean for the state, McMaster answered, "I'm with Trump. We'll be fine. We're getting better and better."

The support was little surprise given McMaster's early decision to back now-President Donald Trump during the GOP presidential campaign. He was one of the first elected officials in the nation to do so.
