S.C. Court of Appeals sides with The Citadel in lawsuit involving counselor who molested children

A lawsuit against The Citadel by a mother whose teen son was molested by former summer camp counselor Louis "Skip" ReVille hit a roadblock Wednesday after the S.C. Court of Appeals sided with the military academy.

The Appeals Court opinion upholds a 2015 decision by Charleston County Circuit Judge Markley Dennis to dismiss the case.

The teen was a participant in an athletic program in Mount Pleasant and had no connection to The Citadel, said M. Dawes Cooke Jr., a Charleston-based attorney representing the military academy.

In the suit, the mother — identified only as Mother Doe A — argues that ReVille would not have been in a position to molest her son if Citadel officials had reported him to authorities when allegations of his abuse were reported to school officials in 2007.
