Former Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan turns page with new job

Jenny Durkan likes to get to the office early.

The former Seattle mayor, 66, is back in the business community with global law firm Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, as a partner in its growing white-collar crime team. And she wants to hit the ground running.

“I’ve only been in the job two weeks now, but I’m always one of the first in the office,” Durkan told the Business Journal last month. “I always have been in my work history. That’s my quiet time when I get things done.”

Durkan was elected mayor in 2017 but opted to not seek a second term. Prior to that, former President Barack Obama named her a U.S. district attorney for Western Washington from 2009 to 2014. During her tenure, she pushed for police reform within the Seattle Police Department and led high-profile prosecutions of cybersecurity and hacking cases.
