WI-AD42: McCarville (D) vs. Witherspoon (R) for Assembly: 'Talks a lot.' 'Lip service.'

Voters in northeast Madison and beyond are in a new state Assembly district, with two fresh faces asking for their support.

Assembly District 42 includes parts of Madison near Dane County Regional Airport, as well as DeForest, Windsor and parts of Columbia County. It is currently represented by Rep. Jon Plumer, R-Lodi, who opted against seeking re-election after new legislative maps enacted this year changed the boundaries of the district considerably.

Instead, Democrat Maureen McCarville, a member of the Dane County Board, and Republican Rebecca Witherspoon, a member of the DeForest Village Board, are facing off for the seat.

To learn more about this important race, the Cap Times sat down with the candidates for the 42nd Assembly District to get a feel for their priorities and what they believe makes them the best fit to serve in the Assembly.
