More people injured in another knife attack in Sydney - DW News



A church leader and several other people have been injured in a knife attack during a religious service in Sydney, Australia.

A man was seen on a live stream approaching the bishop and stabbing him several times. The incident comes on the day of mourning for six people who were stabbed to death in a rampage in the city.

Bishop allegedly stabbed by 15yo boy during service in Sydney, while three others also injured

Police have arrested a 15 year old boy after a prominent bishop and three other men were allegedly stabbed during a service at an Assyrian church on Monday evening.

Video, posted on social media, shows Christian leader Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel allegedly being attacked at Wakeley’s Christ The Good Shepherd Church while delivering his sermon about 7.10pm Monday.

After the attack, a furious mob of around 2000 people swarmed near the church with riots breaking out and police struggling to maintain order.

A number of police officers were injured after being hurt during the unrest.
