The latest promise from Can-do Newman

Anna Bligh's husband who works for the public service is allowed to keep his job. He was in charge of running the "The carbon reduction " scheme. He is allowed to stay on as long as he dismantles it.

Does anyone remember that promise made during the election campaign?

1. The only thing that Mr Newman said during the campaign was that

Labor is worse than cancer and we have identified a big pot of gold we are going to save
everybody with.
This "pot of gold" is going to be mainly things like preparation for climate change problems.
So his first announcement was predictable.
The coal seam gas thing is going to be a real problem for him. His constituency is both for and against it.
His remedy for traffic congestion in Brisbane was to dig a tunnel that nobody uses.
So we are waiting bug-eyed to see what's next.
I've ordered a truck load of popcorn.
My prediction is that the libnats will implode. As soon as the honeymoon is over, the "Country Party" will re-emerge and Spongeborg Squarehead will have another tilt.
That will be fun.

2. If we had a fair and balanced media

and I dont mean FOX, this Cliveland result could work to the Gillard Government's advantage. With all the seats the LNP won, there have to be quite a few boofheads in amongst them, if not all of them.

I wonder how many voters saw the results last Saturday night and regretted what they had done.

5. He also made a commitment to extended dredging.

God knows, Anna Bligh wasn't too concerned with the environmental impact of dredging, but Newman doesn't give a toss.

The following from a pre-election article:

He said $30 million would be set aside for the Gold Coast project from the Marine Infrastructure Fund.

When asked if he would order an environmental impact study to see how the dredging would affect the environment and surf beaches in the area, Mr Newman said he would not.

"We are quite confident this can be done and protect the environment," he said.

Mr Newman conceded he had not read any of the studies done on dredging the Gold Coast Broadwater.

I am really concerned for the Great Barrier Reef - current dredging is already breaching the World Heritage guidelines for its preservation, and I'm afraid Newman will finish it off if he's not checked.

The best hope I can see is that the Greens willl pressure the Federal Government to step in, which I think they can do, although they'd probably be reluctant. This might be a good cause for GetUp!

6. This is the appropriate attitude Esra Star

In this morning's Curious Mail there was a suggestion that the Chinchilla Solar project will be iced. Killing off 300-450 jobs. This could put a hole in Campbell's 4 percent unemployment target.

Labor is on the nose is true. Their ideas were unpopular especially if they were trying to fix some world problems on a local and state level. Selling State assets is a case in point.

Campbell has a (many) problem(s) there are some very old stagers in the LNP who want revenge for years in the political wilderness and some very new people who want quick bucks because they won't be there in three years time.

On ABC RN program Religion and Ethics yesterday they interviewed a new MP who was also a former Executive Officer, Lutheran Church of Australia. His priority is to wind back the Civil Unions Bill. Apparently it is not Campbell's highest priority. The cracks are beginning to appear. I lost a bet I said the cracks would appear by the weekend. Darn. Later in the interview he was reminded that he was not the most high profile Lutheran in parliamentary history. So they riffed on Joh BP. The pastor then said 'Was was there corruption in his administration well yes there probably was. I think the Fitzgerald Inquiry showed that” I choked on my popcorn. I am going to have to choose another snack food if I am to survive the next three years.

3. Newman is an old Joh man

I dont like or trust Campbell Newman.....he reminds me to much of Joh Bejlkie-Petersen...arrogant, and IAM man and no-one is as good as me.
So after 20 years of Labor the Qlders decided on change,BUT even without any warning Mr.Newman is changing things,deleting departments and already putting people out of work.
Oh well back to the Joh days of 'Big Brother is watching'
Honestly what did Anna Bligh do wrong.
I do remember a previous PM stating that 'there will never be a GST under my watch' and what happened,that PM introduced a GST.There will always be low interest rates under my watch and up went interest rates,up went the price of food and general commodities and did wages go up...I DON'T THINK SO.Also the Health Minister decided to cut heath regulations and health departments,and guess who that was...OH yes one Tony Abbott,BUT hey all the Libs in Qld don't remember that sort of thing.So Anna Bligh has broken ONE promise,BUT hey how many did Joh break and also Peter Beattie break and also John Howard break and the Qlders have a hide to endorse Campbell Newman.
He will be the same as whet we have in NSW,a totally useless Premier who is only interested in what happens immediately around him and STUFF the rural sector.
Our roads are a mess,the public transport is a mess,the health system is a mess and what has been done NOTHING.
Gee I wonder what Mr.Newman will do in his first 100 days the mind boggles.
Anyway you lot voted for him so you can suffer in silence.
By the way Julia Gillard will still be PM after the next Federal Election as people don't like and don't trust Tony Abbott,and who else is there to run the Liberal party.One one I guess and that would be Malcolm Turnbull.Notice that Julie Bishop hasn't challenged Tony Abbott.She is either to scared or dosen't have the bottle to do so..........

4. Which particular promise did Ms Bligh break?

I watched the campaign and as far as I remember she only made one promise,
and that was to do the best that they could do for Queensland.
She may have referred to some programs that they were wanting to start, but that's it.
So what was the broken promise?
