out of the Canada Pension Plan is they have more transient workers than any other province. People go to Alberta to work from Nova Scotia and Ontario and elsewhere in boom times they return home when oil prices fall. How would that work for pensions? Would people in Nova Scotia get two pension cheques?

Putting the Alberta government in charge of an Alberta version of CPP is nuts, imo. There is no doubt the Cons would use it as a slush fund to fund their pet projects like oil and gas projects.
I am a loud NO on this and, from what I have read, so are the majority of Albertans.

(2,031 posts)They want half of the CPP based on some bad-math devious formula they came up with. Screw over the rest of Canada and then probably wreck the new fund too. They hate the CPP and any form of the social safety net. Like their maga cousins.
Disgusting.

(54,852 posts)Their claim to half of what is in the CPP 'kitty' is beyond ludicrous, the reality is closer to 17% at most and even that is high, imo.
They are already flip flopping on some key elements, I don't think this will fly.
