Need advice about traveling in the Midlands

I'm thinking of doing a trip in the fall touring the cathedrals in the Midlands. The list includes Southwell, Derby, Lichfield, Peterborough, Leicester, Worcester, Hereford, and Gloucester. Thinking of staying in Gloucester and Leicester and doing day trips from there. It seems like there's a bit more to do in those cities.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Other things to see in the area?

You could also maybe take in a Premiership Rugby match in Leicester or Gloucester

Oh, and if you head out of Derby you could easily end up in the Peak District, which has plenty of excellent stuff to check out.

You aren't too far from Nottingham, which isn't a bad day out.

I went to Southwell a couple of weeks ago for the "Museum of the Moon" exhibition.
