iPad 2 or the New iPad?

Howdy-
I'm looking to get an iPad, but don't know which one. There doesn't appear to be much difference to me, but I'm not that tech savvy when it comes to specifications. I'm looking to replace a piece of crap Dell mini that barely functions, and I'll need the iPad for web surfing, working in the archives, and recording travel notes.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Never tried the 2, but as I understand it, the 3 is easier to read with the retina screen. I love it.

the latest.
Bought my iPad 1 when the 2's were released and saved $100.00.

Bought my daughter a 2 when the 3's were released and saved $150.00 on it.

It's whatever works best for you.

The processors are different too, but not all that big a deal. I am certain there are other differences, too, but those are the biggies.

Maxi pads are useful at times too but I wouldn't recommend them for everyone.

If you're still determined to get an iPad, the New one is definitely what I would get.
Apple hardware often becomes obsolete after several years. The newest model will probably remain useable longer than the older iPad.

And a legal pad will not allow me to skype from Europe.
But thanks

returned it this morning when I read the iPad 4 is coming out on Nov 2 at the SAME PRICE. I am/was a first time Apple customer. Does Apple update its other products every six months?
