Migrating itunes and pics from old to new computer

I will replace my old 07 Macbook with a new MacBook pro early next year. I want the new machine free of clutter and only want to migrate my itunes and pictures over. Nothing else. I was going to purchase in store. I'm sure they can migrate over for me if I bring in the old machine, but are there any steps I need to take with the old Macbook before I show up at the store?

Absent that, I might grab a firewire external drive and back up the whole deal, disc image or whatever they call it.

Have fun, you'll love the MBP!

you could network the two and transfer any files from one to the other.
Or you could get the special cord that would physically connect the two.
Or you could move the desired files to the cloud or a place like Dropbox and move them that way.

You will need a special cord. Connections have changed. It's also faster to do it with a hard wired connection. Don't forget you will want to migrate your contacts and Internet or safari settings, too
