What does it mean to install Linux "from a host system" ?

It sounds like all I need is Lubuntu installed on the HD (done) and an install CD for Manjaro (got that) and I should be able to install Manjaro (derived from Arch) on a formatted partition (got that) on my MacPro 2,1 despite that machine requiring a 32-bit bootloader to install a 64-bit OS (thanks, Apple). But how exactly ? I can't boot from the Manjaro CD, but I can read the files, so what next ?

(56,582 posts)But you're installing a second instance if Linux on a different partition or disk, and you use the already-installed Linux instead of an installation CD to do it.

(37,671 posts)I've never done a Linux install except by rebooting from a DVD, and that can't be done here. Do I download a .iso of Manjaro to the Lubuntu disk, and use the .iso file instead of the DVD ? What *command* actually begins the installation ? Is there some way to boot another OS from the terminal CL without a hard reboot ?
Thanks, I've been looking at other problems and just got back to this.

(9,610 posts)I think I have used that method to install on a system that had a bad dvd drive at one time.

I think that is what they mean by "install from a host system."
