Mark Hough had barely taken a sip of his Friday afternoon margarita when he heard twigs snapping and leaves rustling in his lush Altadena, California, backyard.
At first he brushed it off as the sounds of his neighbor pottering next door, but the noise grew louder.
"So I got up, looked over in the bushes and lo and behold there's a bear climbing up over my fence," Hough said Monday.
The sighting was the first of many encounters Hough would have with the bear that particularly hot Friday afternoon over the course of a few hours the bear availed itself of Hough's backyard, his hot tub, and the cocktail he left behind.
After first spotting the bear, Hough retreated inside, only to later find the furry intruder "bobbling away in the Jacuzzi enjoying himself."

(621 posts)Expecting all kinds of bad news, and I know its there because I read the headlines, it was only 6:45 when I woke up and wanted to go back to sleep, so continued scrolling.
Thanks for posting this! It made me smile and then belly laugh, and I can get another hour of sleep now, dreaming of bears having a cocktail party in my (sorry to say currently broken) hot tub)!
I know bears can be dangerous. I live in the NJ Pine Barrens, where we are bear aware and we both keep a respectful distance, and I know they can cause damage, mostly mischievous, along the lines of raccoons, less than the deer who I love and feed daily, but I find the antics of bears to be so human-like at times. I truly enjoy them, and their pool parties have often been captured on video around these parts.
Thanks again! Still smiling!
