I want to leave my new job after 6 months -- what do I say during interviews??

I was employed at the same company for 34 years but had to leave due to a toxic environment and subtle age discrimination by management. Last Nov I got a new job but don't like the environment-- it's a stretch from what I was doing and the manager is passive aggressive to me (assigning my projects to others, not supporting training). And we have had 2 reorgs and I`m a different level (due to experience) than I was hired for. I have mentioned this to my manager but her response was that given my experience, I should figure it out. Ok...

So I applied for a job that's the same area/responsibilities but with another company. This other company has a better reputation and I have several friends working there so I feel more comfortable. I have an interview on Tuesday.

My question is, what do I say about my current job? I included it on the resume since it will show up on background checks.

Thanks

Paula

In general it is wise to avoid bad mouthing your current employer to your prospective one, they might think you'll eventually do that to them too.

Best wishes on your employment change.

Second, your company is —> refreshing . I noticed a lot more smiles here.

How’s that

and it is no longer the job you were hired to do. You can say that in a neutral, non-judgmental manner and it won't sound as if you're badmouthing them.

All I said was "I walked into a reorg and now we're working on our 3rd"... His reply: Say no more...

I was told he'd hire me on the spot but I had to go through another step. Now if they'd come up with the money. I already went down $20k to get out of a toxic environment, I can't lose more. But I REALLY want to work there and at that job so I pray all goes well.

Thanks again!!
