I just filed via Turbo Tax
I've been using them for years and it's pretty easy. Their rates have gone up a bit ($89 for the basic service for what I filed) but it's pretty seamless, especially if you're paid via a firm like ADP.
Anyway, last year I got my refund pretty quickly, like within 10 days. Let's see how long it takes this year. I need it as business is really slow after the holidays, same it is every January hauling the mail. I'm barely scraping together 40 hour weeks, so the refund will absolutely help with cash flow.
Anyway....
Happy tax season, everyone!

Ya use ta be able to go into the post office and pick up forms. My tax is simple. I could do it in 15 minutes if they still gave out the forms.

question everything
(49,107 posts)I donated shares of stock (Apple) and had to enter the cost basis.
TurboTax would not accept it, "invalid" kept saying.
Finally the representative suggested to round the number of the cost basis - was really low - and it worked.
And then I figured that most shares prices extend to three digits after the period and TurbuTax, working with dollars and cents would accept no more than two digits. And that was the issue.
I hope to finalize it later this week.
Curiouser and Curiouser..

(14,778 posts)house that had lots of things I was not sure of. Then I went back to TT.
Since I'm retired my taxes are dirt simple.
The one thing I liked about using TT was it kinda sorta taught me how the system worked in my case..
I wish they taught someting like this in high school.. Maybe they did but I did not see it...

(9,638 posts)Federal tax filing is free using basic service. State Tax is free for AGI up to $45k and then costs $14.99 for AGI over $45K.
Electronic filing is included. My tax is pretty simple having only social security and IRA incomes so this is quick and easy for me.

(5,127 posts)Still waiting on W-2s and 1099s to come in, also culling together the expenses for Mrs. Best's side hustle.
This year, I'm not waiting until everything comes in, I'm entering data as it arrives.

(24,635 posts)But I got the last 1099 yesterday, so I was able to finalize it.
I find TurboTax handy to use with its ability to go back and add or edit items.
