Education
Related: About this forumI can't stand it. Two districts where I sub-teach have no Libraries.
Not one shelf.
And they're both preschool to Eighth Grade.
Sure, there are public libraries in both towns. But that's not the point.
They used to have a period for all classes for a librarian to introduce the students to books they might want to take out and read at home, to learn how to find books on the shelves, what kind of books were stocked.
It's the equivalent of removing art and music programs. It's removing literature, history, science, learning to read, etc.

(19,322 posts)If you have internet, you easily can introduce them to the public library system on line and still recommend books. Most libraries allow up to 15 books at a time on line. These kids are technologically gifted. Id try that.

Not that the military isnt important, but:
What if education got all of the funding it needs and the military had to hold bake sales and sell wrapping paper?
