An Israeli air strike on a UN school packed with hundreds of displaced people in central Gaza has killed at least 27 people, local officials say.

Local journalists told the BBC that an Israeli warplane fired two missiles at classrooms on the top floor of the school in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

Israel’s military said it “conducted a precise strike on a Hamas compound embedded inside” the school.

The Hamas media office has accused Israel of committing a "horrific massacre".

The IDF said the compound was used by members of Hamas’s elite Nukhba force who took part in the terror group’s October 7 massacre in Israel, in which some 1,200 were killed and 251 were taken hostage.

The army said the terrorists, along with members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group, “directed terror attacks from the area of the school, while exploiting it as a civilian location and as shelter.”

3. Sorry, the IDF has lied so much about their attacks and "mistakes" that I doubt them once again.

Given that a large majority of the deaths are women and children, it would seem that they are the targets because they are the key to any Palestinian future. No women, no future children.

I am surprised how many people would take the word of unnamed "local officials" and "local journalists" at their words without as much as fact-checking them.

I am also surprised how many people would presume IDF is lying while not extending a similar presumption to the Hamas media office.

From severe malnutrition and severe trauma. A whole generation or more stunted and diminished, never reaching their potential. That's the real genocide, the harm done to all but especially the young generation, the future of the Palestinian people.
