As if that wasn't bad enough, 5 weeks ago the IDF launched a renewed ground and air assault on the north. They said it was necessary to get Hamas who have regrouped there. You may have read he many accounts of bombing of schools where the displaced sheltered, and the attacks and raids on the remaining hospitals. Patients were evacuated, meaning they had to walk or crawl to wherever, while dodging sniper bullets. But there are no fully functioning hospitals left, so....I wonder what happens to all the wounded and sick, amidst all the bombing?

Yes, there are still people left in the north, though much fewer than 400,000. They cling to their land and/or have no place to go or are afraid of being killed en route.

The IDF has given them two choices. Leave or starve.

Those that have left will not be allowed to return, per the IDF. Those that remain will be starved or killed, likely.

The ethnic cleansing of the north is nearly complete. It's happening in broad daylight and judging by comments since the election, it seems just fine to some.

Yet we should remember what the U.S. said at the beginning of the war: people of Gaza must be allowed to return to their homes and occupation of Gaza was not acceptable. Of course they have no homes to return to, but still. It's their fucking LAND and HOME.

Is the plural form of Aggressor. That means more than one. One would think logically that they are talking about 2 different groups since they used the plural form. That would be hamas and Israel.

Or, if more than one, it could be Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah... or Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah and the Houthis... or Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, the Houthis and Iran...

Aggressors. The possibilities boggle the mind.

Why would "we" start now?

A lot of people can starve in 10 weeks.

Oh well. Those people in Gaza didn't vote for us!

So let's just discount everything she says about the starvation in Gaza.

That's the point, isn't it? Shoot the messenger?

Edited to add: Besides, Republicans care so much about Gaza, right? Surely when a Republican says it's bad in Gaza, it must be absolutely horrendous!!

that a cleansing of the scene will take place so that the outside world doesn't know the truth. Given all of the collapsed residential buildings in Gaza it is a given that there are many dead still buried in the rubble. I can assure you that the IDF bulldozers will be "clearing" the rubble once the shooting stops in all of Gaza and there will be no efforts allowed to recover or find bodies and there will be no independent observers allowed from the press or humanitarian organizations.

The access to information is heavily controlled by the Israeli government. The censorship threat is very real. Having a big "PRESS" sign on yourself or your vehicle makes your identity as a target even easier.

again about a question that has come up. This OP on DU put up a good informational post but some people around the world claim to now have a problem with Cindy McCain because she is a Republican and so, apparently to them, if she says something about the dire situation of starvation in Northern Gaza it should not appear on sites supporting Democrats. But oddly enough when Republicans and GQP folks made statements giving carte blanche support to the radical right Israeli government there were no such outcries from those same folks around the world about party affiliation when quotes would appear. So golly gee Mr. Peepers I'm all confused about whether it's the political party identified with that is the real problem for some around the world or is it the content? Is it actually that I can't figure it out because I'm low on chocolate milk and cookies? I thank you in advance for your guidance.

Sincerely,

Moniss (and once again for the record it wasn't me who put that gum under my desk)

31. Israel rejects 'biased' warning of famine in Gaza
Sat Nov 9, 2024, 10:19 AM
Nov 9
Israel rejected on Saturday a group of global food security experts’ warning of famine in parts of northern Gaza where it is waging war against Palestinian militant group Hamas.

“Unfortunately, the researchers continue to rely on partial, biased data and superficial sources with vested interests,” the military said in a statement.

The independent Famine Review Committee (FRC) said on Friday in a rare alert that there was a strong likelihood of imminent famine in parts of north Gaza with immediate action required from the warring parties to ease a catastrophic situation.

Israel’s military said it had increased aid efforts including opening an additional crossing on Friday.

In the last two months, 39,000 trucks carrying more than 840,000 tons of food have entered Gaza, it said, and meetings were taking place daily with the UN which had 700 trucks of aid awaiting pickup and distribution.

So why is it that there is not even an attempt to find out what happened to the 840,000 tons of food that already entered into Gaza in the past month? One would think the answer to this question would have something to do with starving Gazans, no?

Just look at this thread. Lots of self-righteous indignation being randomly thrown around against Israel, but not a word about Hamas stealing humanitarian aid from Gazan civilians.

One keeps wondering about such blunt displays of sanctimonious partiality...
