Girls in STEM hit my happy old feminist spot

How bloody marvellous!

I mentor a young lady who is currently doing a workplace degree in Network Engineering. These STEM ladies rock in a mans world - the new generation is brilliant!

In International Studies and Spanish. Then decided to be an engineer. I’m a math instructor and I was looking at some of her calculus homework. Difficult trig substitution integration stuff. Said I, “how did you get from here to here?” “I did it all in my head.” Of course, she was right, but dayum! She’s almost done with her master’s and has been asked to stay on as faculty.

I'm an artist, and crafter from a young age. I also love a bunch of the Sciences (various Earth and Space branches in particular, some others, too)! from just about as young age.

The only some what higher math I was ever decent at was geometry. Terrible at chemistry, not very good at physics, but I have an extremely high ability to abstract (as a quite early preemie at the time I was tested for several years as a child to see if the change in treatment in the incubator changed cognitive skills.)
I can follow some of the intricacies of Quantum, and Astrophysics pretty well because of it.

Anyway - such a brilliant and useful tool! 👏

It makes me "snort"/laugh at racists since she is African-American, or African-Latina American, as well.
May she have a wonderful career bringing her smarts, and compassion to even more fruition!
