Dear Family

I got word today that my application for SSDI was approved. This has been a hard long journey, The money to live on/live from isn't here yet, nor the OFFICIAL letter, but I won. I share and understand and know how hard this journey is my sister and brother. Rejoice with me this day, and to any who want to ask, I will tell what I can in PMs.
grateful and happy, Irisblue

requires hiring an expert who will take 1/4 to 1/3 of the initial proceeds. Plus appear in person before a Judge and get grilled, yet again. Family member went through it in California. Hope you got off better than that. Indeed, congratulations!

You will qualify for Medicare 2 years from your approval. That will be a load off of your mind in itself. Take care of yourself and remember your health takes top priority!

I was denied in December, 2010 appealed through an attorney, and was approved in April 2011. My Medicare started in April, 2013. My understanding is that there is a 2 year waiting period for Medicare from the date of disability approval.

So, for example, if the OP's disability is approved retroactively to March, 2012, then the OP would be eligible for Medicare in March, 2014.

Was your SSDI eligibility approval retroactive to more than 2 years before your notice of approval?

I don't remember exactly when. Disability and Medicare started immediately once approved.

I can empathize with this feeling, as my family went through similar struggles in our journey.
