(3,379 posts)....in the armpits, which is an area included on mammograms since there is breast tissue there. This also happens with other vaccines, but awareness has been brought to the forefront woth Covid.

(16,535 posts)The vaccine can cause lymph nodes to swell a little in some people. The enlarged nodes (usually axillary) can alarm the reading radiologist. It would then cause a "call back" for the person and a repeated screen, ergo another dose of radiation.

(2,000 posts)And in the paperwork they asked the date of my most recent booster which had been 4 days prior. And they gave me the mammogram and found nothing unusual. I'm grateful.
If I'd known about the possible issues I would have delayed the booster or the mammogram.
I imagine a number of women have gotten calls about abnormal mammogram images because of this, only to find everything normal after a second scan or biopsy. Even if the follow up shows nothing, getting that call is traumatic by itself.
This information is important.
