I'm apprehensive/nervous about my next Covid booster.

(Don't jump on me. I ran to get the original Covid vaccine. Waited on line 2 hours. Have had 3-4 boosters so far.)

I don't want to contract Covid. I'm over 65 and anything can happen without the booster.

However . . . . the last booster gave me quite a side effect last October. For about six months, I suffered a disabling rheumatism in both knees, in the ankles. Pain and weakness. I hobbled. It took me over 5 minutes to maneuver to take the first step of stairs going down in my hallway. I had a valid fear that my leg would collapse between the pain/weakness and taking the weight of my body. I clutched the rail/banister in fear of falling down. Ascending the stairs, I no longer could use alternate legs. I had to use a cane at times.

My Primary Physician confirmed my fears that the antibodies from the booster vaccine attacked my knee and leg joints.

I no longer have the pain and weakness. No problems walking and/or with stairs.

I've opted for Pfizer for all my shots.

I'll get the booster, but I'm expecting to get the same side effects.

1. I switched from Pfizer to Moderna for my last several boosters. Just a couple days of fatigue that's it.

I’m 68 and immunocompromised. You could ask your doc if that is an option.

you are going to get another booster from the same company?

What are the actual risks of not getting the next booster?

Exactly how did your PP determine that it was antibodies from the booster that attacked your knee and leg joints?

I've only had the first two original Pfizer vaccinations and the first booster. I also take several supplements to boost my immunity. Is there a reason you've gotten so many boosters?

Don't know if one is better or different from the other, but because all of my other one were Moderna I opted for it.

Hope your rheumatism gets better. I often wonder why we haven't made more progress treating arthritis and related diseases. It affects so may people, especially as our bodies age. The treatments, which my DW took for years, are very hard on your stomach even if you take something to help it.

Best wishes!!

6. I am over 55 and immune compromised -

I did Pfizer at first, but I did not get great antibodies (I was part of a research study so they drew my blood after each series of boosters and I got the results). At some point I switched to Moderna and have done much better since.

I finally got Covid in fall 2022, but Paxlovid was available & the cough was really the worst symptom for me anyway.

I had the Covid/Flu Booster combo in fall 2023 and I have not gone in for another booster. I may have one if it's available the next time I see my primary, otherwise I'll just go with the combo again this fall. I do look for Moderna now - you may want to inquire as to whether you could try it.

I have had no issues after several Modernas.

I will take the next one but I am now anxious about it.

While it is normal to anticipate similar symptoms, they may not occur.
I have had different side effects each shot. Not as serious as yours,
but some strange ones.

I got Novavax back in October. Zero arm pain. No feeling sick at all, and I avoided COVID.
