The flu, and after effects

I got VERY sick on Christmas Day, and finally ended up in the ER where I was diagnosed with influenza A, influenza A H3, and coronavirus (not COVID 19). I honestly thought I was going to die at one point before I went to the ER.

I did finally start to feel better, but here I am over two weeks from the onset and I'm still dealing with the worst brain fog since I had a TIA type event almost 20 years ago. I'm reading that it's from "inflammatory proteins that form as part of the body's immune response to a virus" (NeuroHealthServices.com). Sure feels weird. Just wanted to pass this along for anyone else who may go through it or know someone who is going through it.

I lost about 10 lbs b/c I could not eat. Lasted about a week. After about a week I went into the walk in clinic and they gave me prednisone.. Ahh no thanks.
.Again like you I had brain fog, loss of taste and smell. After two months I still feel wonky at times. Yesterday I felt like my brain was spongey like being stoned but not high...I still cant eat some things and I can't drink any wine..Tastes like wet cardboard.. Beer is ok.
I use to work in hospitals and was around sick people all the time. Many with the flu and I very rarely got the flu. If I did it was a mild case. I guess when you are 75+ things are a bit different..
Yes I got the updated Covid shot. For me it was like the same symptoms of Covid but for one day and then went away
Be safe.
