Joker: Folie Deux... Now that was different. On HBO Max
More of a character study than a story and depressing as hell. It was fine filmmaking and the art was above the typical bars that we see today. If you don't expect a typical DC film you might enjoy it. Definitely not a light weight film.
I wasn't expecting to like this one but it's staying with me in a way that some of the better films of the past have.

(10,202 posts)But I hate musicals. It did not take too long for me to change the channel. No offense to musical fans.
Just not my taste.
Phoenix is an amazing actor.
Gaga is freaky great at vocals and performing.
Just seemed odd for me after the last Joker.

(9,891 posts)I guess Ill still give it a shot but thanks for the heads up.
Give it a try, unfair for me to judge when I only watched about 30 minutes. Phoenix is worth the watch. Just not a musical fan, but for a villain like Joker, show tunes were awkward to see him do. In prison.

(19,275 posts)Arthur Fleck was not "the joker."
Take a quick step back to where Heath Ledger asks "You wanna know how I got these scars?" then segue to the psycho who stabbed Fleck to death carving himself up while sitting in the hall at Arkham.
Don't know for sure but it makes sense to me. Found this that shares my supposition: https://www.koimoi.com/hollywood-news/joker-folie-a-deux-heres-how-joaquin-phoenix-starrer-solves-a-16-year-old-mystery-about-heath-ledgers-the-dark-knight/
