(6,027 posts)You got this, grab a scoop of ice cream put it in a glass add some soda and slowly eat with a spoon. Take a look around you. You have much to be grateful for: DU and company, along with any other friends and family that care about you and your well being.
Tomorrow, later today, get up early enough to catch the sunrise, and start a new day full of possibility. The kind of options that make life worth living.
Do something kind for a stranger.
Sit and watch the world, it can teach a lot.
Goodnight irisblue, dream about everything you want to do and be present and enjoy, you can.

irisblue
(34,427 posts)That is a problem.

(11,780 posts)And yes, the last time I drank I discovered you could get alcohol delivered. Not good for an active alcoholic.

Moreover, I enjoy being at my best.
Gave up all the hard stuff in 1988.

(11,780 posts)I think people like us get tired of feeling bad, and we are willing to do anything to get some relief. But the temporary relief just leads to feeling bad or worse later. Not sure I have any specific advice about how to make it they tge bad time.

(11,780 posts)Thats a good place to start. I have a decent place to live, a few family and friends that still care for me. Rent is paid, food in the fridge. My car is paid for and still in pretty good shape. My health is about as good as I could expect given some of my life choices, nothing threatening me to die anytime soon. And I can usually sleep ok. Not great but at least Im not up all night miserable.

(11,662 posts)That's all you have to do. Then do it again. It does get better, I promise. I could focus on all the bad things in my life, but I have so many good things to ponder instead. Since getting sober, my relationship with my wife is better than ever. We really enjoy each other's company.

(38,726 posts)I was addicted to food, eating too much..five foot 6" and 1/2...weighed 210 pounds.-- 1982
Now..same height...about 40 years later 148 pounds. minus 62 pounds. And, most important kept it off for
more than 35 years. Overeaters Anonymous & my higher power saved my life.
Is it easy? NO! Far from Easy. Sometimes I slip, I never give up..
.... I cannot change the past, CAN YOU? I heard that at a meeting sometime in 1982 or 3
but, the over all picture is totally different. It is always ..".ONE DAY AT A TIME"
Sometimes one hour at a time..whatever works is what I know. If it is this or that....whatever works...
HANG IN THERE, DON'T GIVE UP.......Please Don't Give Up....Please..
