Is this a bad habit to get into?

I've been sober for almost 4 years These days when I'm at a gathering, or even home with my wife, I sort of keep track of how much other people drink. With my wife I'll actually count how many glasses of wine she has. Sometime I'll say to myself, "Oh sure, you can have a bottle of wine, but I can't!" In a way, I'm secretly jealous, but in the morning I remind myself that I don't have a hangover and I often get up with the sun. Something I almost ever did back when I was drinking.

Anyone else do this?

I don’t think about it that much anymore, but every once in a while, I am tempted by a cold beer on a hot day, or a single malt scotch at a party and I immediately remember what a hangover was like, and ditch the whole idea. I guess I did some heavy drinking in my day

I still enjoy a cigar every day. Last week I was smoking one at a friendly gathering and an acquaintance asked if I ever enjoyed cognac with my cigars. I told him I really liked a good bourbon when smoking cigars. Didn't talk too much about my sobriety. Later that night, I felt like I could literally taste the Jim Beam Black or Makers Mark and had a fleeting thought. What if? Like you, I remembered the consequences of my drinking. That, "what if" thought thankfully retreated into the shadows rather quickly.

Whether it's smoking or drinking or drugs, it doesn't affect me. My serenity is more important.

haven't quit drinking, but have cut way back. In the old days, my wife would have 1 to 1 1/2 glasses out of a bottle and me the rest. Now it's reversed, if I have any at all...It is nice getting up not feeling like shit...

My addiction is eating stuff. All kinds of stuff. Fortunately, I am at a very low weight for me. Pants that haven't fit in
40 years, now fit...
...Still I eat ...too much "stuff"

...Most days are OK, but any of the stuff is too much..Any, Any, and Any

...I am not perfect, but most days I am ok. Sometimes I eat a little, but then throw the rest out. Other times, it is a whole
lot more than little. So, I have to admit, "I am still an addict."

........... It is just sugar..what is wrong with that? I have an addiction to sugar, that is what is wrong with that!!!

And the tip I give to fellow alcoholics if they're stuck going somewhere that alcohol may be served - have a glass/cup of something else in your hand and it's much less likely anything alcoholics will be offered to you. I'm big on coffee, usually say that I could really use a cup of coffee and nobody asks any questions. And it also helps if you bring a friend/advocate for support. I learned the latter when I first got sober.
