I feel like I never really got over it. The fatigue is the same/worse now some 40+ years ago.

Was dx'd w/MS in the mid-1990's.

I believe it is all I can say.

Endemic in areas of Africa. My youngest had EBV and one of his best friends had EBV and then Burkitt's, although he's totally cured now. It scares the hell out of me. I've always wondered if that's why I am functionally chronically fatigued to this day. I bet my titers would show EBV antibodies from who know when.

The fatigue I experience every day/all day is the same type of fatigue.

I remember about 2 years after the mono, I was out on a date with a guy who was driving a brand new flashy car.

I remember driving by a sign for a motel and I just wanted to go home and go to sleep.

Normally, this would be a big deal at that age. You'd be excited or something it would seem. However, I was to tired to care.

Today it is no different. It is such a struggle to get things done.

As for other people, they just do not quite get it.

That is perhaps one of the worst aspect of this illness. Others think you look "just fine". Little do they know how much many of us suffer.

I know exactly when it hit me and it was right after the birth of my second baby. I had a real sore throat, although the doctor said my throat wasn't even red, and then I became exhausted. Eventually he diagnosed me with CFS. I'm better now. I work, I go out, I have friends, but I'm not nearly as active as I used to be. I'm always amazed over how much other people get done. Little things take everything I have. And, you're right, other people just don't get it.

Those diseases are: systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), multiple sclerosis (MS), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), celiac disease, and type 1 diabetes. Combined, these seven diseases affect nearly 8 million people in the U.S.
