CBD oil and arthritis. Any suggestions?

Hello all.
Some months ago, I came across a thread that was discussing the benefits of CBD oil and arthritis. I could have sworn that I bookmarked the thread. I can't find the thread anywhere. AAARRRGGGG! (Yes, I have used the search function. No luck.)
So, I'm starting over. I wanted to know if anyone can recommend a reliable brand, where to purchase, etc.?
I have found a lot of information online, but there is so much of it, I don't know where to start. And the cost
of the product varies greatly.
I don't even know if this is the correct forum in which to post this question. But I thought it was the best place to start.
Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I can barely type, my hands hurt so much from the darned pain.
Thanks,
Dem2theMax
I am adding to this post. After a few hours of searching around online, none of the health food stores are allowed to sell CBD oil, they only sell capsules and salves and creams. I am specifically looking for CBD oil.
There are a lot of companies online who do sell it. Can anyone recommend a specific company that they are satisfied with? I'm about ready to start pounding my head against the wall, never thought it would be so hard to figure out what to buy.

(12,263 posts)And it works very well. It's pricey ($80, but that might be the chiros markup) but pretty effective, the contact on the packaging is cbdclinic.co and the .co is for Colorado. There's a phone number, too, but PM me if you want that. I don't want people to think this is an ad.

(10,407 posts)They don't sell directly to patients, only to doctors. I will have to find out if my doctor would work with me to get some of this. I think it would really help. Thank you for the information.

(10,407 posts)I have never hurt this badly from the arthritis. It must be some sort of a flare up. I will find something at some store tomorrow, and I will post and let you all know what I got and how it works! Thankfully, I live near a lot of health food stores.

(12,263 posts)Diet helps a great deal, especially cutting out sugar (a major inflammatory) and eating fresh food. You're on the right track.

(10,407 posts)The age part is definitely playing a factor. I didn't have arthritis, or at least didn't feel it, until I was 50. I am a few years beyond that now, and it just seems to be getting worse.
As one of my cousins said, it's not the Golden years, it's the Rusty years.

(12,263 posts)While I was recovering from food poisoning and a reactive arthritis flare from it, I had to cut all dairy, all gluten, and all sugar. I felt the results in one week (cut raw pain about 60-70%) and gradually added sugar back in, although I am still allergic to Gluten and Dairy.

(10,407 posts)I mean, I can't just have arthritis. There have to be other things wrong too. LOL?
And now that you mention it, I have reintroduced some Dairy in the past few months. I wonder if that has to do with the arthritis flaring up? I guess it's time to go back to no Dairy and see what happens. I seem to be okay with gluten, but it wouldn't hurt to eliminate that as well and see what happens.
Your advice is much appreciated.

(12,263 posts)Dairy is a known inflammatory. Amazingly, I do have 'just arthritis.' I just turned 70 and the only drug I take is thyroid which I have taken since I was 22. Arthritis is no party. Good luck with your new initiative!

(14,778 posts)Yup, this growing up shit ain't for sissys... I'm going to look into the CBD for my back. I eat clean most of the time, very little to no sugar either. I do yoga stretches for the whole body in the AM and for the most part I'm ok. "BUT' every once and a while the arthritis flairs up. I've tried arnica to reduce the pain. Oral and topical NSAIDS work too but I need more tools for my artritis kit... Tnx for the info!!

(12,263 posts)It's really good for the skin, too, so you can't go wrong with it. As long as I can keep the inflammation tamped down, I can manage.

(10,407 posts)Normally, it takes away most of the pain. This has been a whole 'nother pain. I'm still using the cream, but I can tell it's time to get something a little more serious.

(12,263 posts)The massage cream with arnica is what I use for my skin now. CBDs are abundant here (Oklahoma) even Walgreen's carries them, but I'm leery of OTC specialties. The Pain Stick is most effective so far although my husband bought Theraworks Relief - a spray on loaded with magnesium that worked beautifully for about six hours. Around $20. The thing about CBDs is that there are receptors for them all over the body and absorbable through the skin. I can only take oral pain killers once every 3 days and I appreciate a medicine that works without wrecking my gastro system.

(10,407 posts)I used to have a cast iron stomach. No more. I can't put too many pills in there, or my stomach gets very upset with me. And I have had to double up on the pain meds, and I can feel my stomach being very disturbed by all of this. So it is definitely time to go the CBD route.

(12,263 posts)I had surgery on my esophagus and recovered, but have been warned not to take pain meds. It makes no sense to have to circulate medication throughout your whole system to target localized pain. You can also get gummies, but those get pricey in a hurry.

(10,407 posts)Why put stuff in your stomach that is only going to add to the problems? CBD oil, here I come!

(10,407 posts)Shortly after getting all this good information from everyone, I found a local place that makes a really high quality CBD oil. And I started using it. I've been on it for almost a year.
It absolutely does help. The shocking thing for me was that it also helped my moods. My doctor has had me on so many medications for mood stabilization over the years. Something might work for four months, and then it would stop working, or the side effects would be horrible.
When it comes to mood stabilization, medication has never worked for me in the long run. So we just stopped trying when it came to regular medication. The CBD oil has been an absolute blessing. And my doctor is absolutely flabbergasted at how well it is working for me.
I'm so grateful to all the good folks in this thread who helped me out. I would not have known what to do without them! I've been meaning to come in here for a long time and post this and thank them, so I'm glad you posted in here today!
