Apple Airpod Pros make not bad hearing aids

1. A funny here. Had my hearing aids hooked up to my phone and IPAD.

This weekend I was reading a book. All of a sudden the greatest music was coming through.

I live close to an International Airport. The only thing we can figure is the G5 suddenly gave me music. Airports are grounding planes because the G 5 interferes with their instruments.

Also for those who have CAPTEL phones they put an icon on my IPAD and phone to dial directly. I really do not need it because I hear perfectly through both.

3. Are the AirPod Pros all you need?

Do they require the iPhone as well and a Bluetooth connection?

...and let you know when to charge although they do bloop at you when they're getting low.

My wife uses her iPad.

If you're in the Samsung world, they have a similar product, also called the Pro version.

If you don't want Bluetooth, there are a variety of inexpensive hearing aids on Amazon.

6. Less features than the $CAN 4000 hearing aids

I had a pair of the fancy ones and lost one at work, probably buried in a snowdrift.

They had features such as separate equalization for each of 3 nodes, one mode allows you to program the directio you're hearing from. They had about 8 hour battery life.

The airpods do have multiple modes. There is a listen to voice at front mode, you can set it to treble or bass and there is a separate ambient volume control. Given they're less than a tenth the price that's good value to me.

With them I can hear conversation, radio and TV clearly at the same time as stuff (eg driving direction) is coming in over the Bluetooth. I can enable/disable streaming and the hearing enhancement right on the airpods.

Just got some behind-the-ear devices from Costco that are so far highly disappointing.

Listening to television on the iPhone via my four-year-old wired buds offered ten times better listening than through the hearing aids (richer sound overall).

They're "tinny" to the point of annoying. The Costco aids pick-up a lot of noise you don't want to hear too -- someone eating, someone washing dishes, my own footsteps, my own breathing, even the sounds of my clothes rubbing up against each other. You can adjust the volume and recording direction but then that can make it difficult to hear conversation.

AirPod Pros would cost almost 1/7th less than what I paid at Costco.

There's an adjustment phase yet on the Costco devices. And they are way less visible when worn. But at 1/7th of the price, I don't think I care.
