(25,320 posts)They're super easy to use and you probably recognize TRX. But you can get regular suspension straps for 30 bucks online.
I have used a old soloflex that I got for $75 10 years ago and some dumbbells plus some suspension straps that I use just for stretching and different types of angles to hit muscles from. I'm a 54 year old man so obviously what I do doesn't necessarily than what you want to do but take a look at suspension straps. Then toss some dumbbells in and you're good.
In terms of workouts there's always the push pull weekly system which is the easiest to remember. Pushing exercises or things like bench presses and tricep exercises and front and lateral shoulder exercises. Pulling includes legs but also your back upper and lower biceps and I usually throw in abs on every workout. I also hit Cavs and forearms every workout.

How do you use the straps with dumbbells?
Nice workout tips! I tried a plank yesterday, yes, "a plank." Hurt my back after about 10 seconds!

(25,320 posts)As for dumbbells they are used by themselves! I was just saying I supplement the soloflex heavy work with dumbbells and suspension straps separately.
I admire the fact that you're trying to increase muscle mass I think too many people as they age forget. It's a longevity thing it's a balanced thing it's a strength thing. Also generally good for the ego
