Using non-invasive techniques to manipulate our emotions, it might be possible to curtail the screaming horrors that plague our sleep.

A study conducted on 36 patients diagnosed with a nightmare disorder showed that a combination of two simple therapies reduced the frequency of their bad dreams.

Scientists invited the volunteers to rewrite their most frequent nightmares in a positive light and then playing sound associated with positive experiences as they slept.

"There is a relationship between the types of emotions experienced in dreams and our emotional well-being," says psychiatrist Lampros Perogamvros of the Geneva University Hospitals and the University of Geneva in Switzerland.

It's a pleasant tone, like what it might sound like if 5 people were softly chanting "OHM" in Cmaj.

I could see that. When the cat is having a bad dream I go across the room and softly call their name as if to get them to come in the the house. They usually wake up without being startled. Most calls of that sort are in the range of C.

I was wondering what would make that chord & how it would sound.

Interestingly, I used to have an Infratronic Qigong machine (medical grade healing device). Doc told me the freq it emits is very close to a cat purring. (The device emits the same freq as that which is emitted from a qigong master's hands when healing.)

I suppose it makes sense considering string theory & quantum mechanics.

Never heard of that but the concept of vibratory approach to healing has its merits.

4. I hadn't either.

Chiro used on kid's liver & heart with lyme disease. Hadn't slept in 3 mos, eyelids were deep purple.

Slept like a baby that night. Turning point in healing process. (Cured for 22 years & cured is not a term generally used regarding lyme.)

5. We know that looking at pictures of babies/puppies, etc releases dopamine and oxytocin in the brain.

Makes us feel happy and even high. So not surprising auditory input would do the same.

There is of course an evolutionary purpose to feeling joy when looking at babies.
