(121,513 posts)A lawsuit would get your money back, and I hope that happens, but it won't make the underlying problem go away. There are specialists who deal with chronic pain if your problem can't be remedied in the short term.

(14,628 posts)I've been complaining to the dentist who did it and he's blowing me off..

(9,025 posts)I was wearing the mouthguard at night. Its like it wants to pull my jaw back into the correct position. Woke up with right jaw pain. Took it out. Woke up later feeling better then started chrwing right-sided pain again. This medical injury had just destroyed me and no lawyer will handle it. I'm awaiting a response from one but i think I'll be hgosted

(3,231 posts)IMO you should be on a strict liquid or scrambled egg-type diet until the matter is resolved, and it may take months.

(14,312 posts)so sorry. I think you should definitely get your GP to send you to a specialist if possible...NOT a dentist, but there's somethng like an orofacialmaxilliarist or something...
That is the most used joint in the body. So sorry you are dealing with this!!!

(14,312 posts)I live with chronic pain from an autoimmune disease. I hate when I'm like "OW!" what did I DO?...the answer, nothing. I slept too much on that side, or I used my hands too much, whatever. Bodies suck...and htey only get worse with age!
Ringht now there's that nasty storm still blowing in on the west coast, and the barometric pressure is messing with me big time! (oh goody, I'm a human barometer...lol)
I am not comfortable explaining this to a dentist. They stick together
Mosby
(17,647 posts)Can't hurt.
Mosby
(17,647 posts)It works for neuropathic pain, like from damaged nerves. I don't get any side effects at all from it, I recently tried to switch to pregabalin (lyrica) and had to stop because it was making me really dizzy.
It comes in 100 or 300mg pills.
Maybe its just this area, but theyre nuts abt drugs. I have to get Xanax from a psychiayrist. GP wont do it

(14,628 posts)I'm sorry to keep going on. I get scared and I'm not supposed to talk about it at home. I see a therapist every 2 weeks. But DU is my safe space.

(18,927 posts)It's been very hard watching you suffer so much. (Not nearly as hard as it is for you, I know, but still!) I know a lot of us, including myself, would very much like to help, and many of us have urged you to seek a second opinion from another health care provider. A couple of people recently made the great (imo) recommendation of seeing an osteopathic physician. You always thank us for our concern (you're very welcome!), but it doesn't sound like you have followed up on any of the suggestions that have been made. Could you possibly explain why that is?
Please believe me when I say I am not trying to push you to do anything you don't want to do. I would just like to understand your thinking on this.
The thing is, I am worried about you, and I'm sure I'm not the only one here who feels that way. This has been going on for too long without getting any better, which leads me to believe it's highly unlikely to ever get better on its own. Furthermore, I worry that the longer this goes on, the chances of lasting damage will increase, until it's too late.
There is obviously something VERY wrong, and the dentist who harmed you is obviously never going to admit it or try to help you. I'm struggling to understand why you don't seem to want to have someone else take a look.
OF COURSE, you are under absolutely no obligation to explain yourself to anyone, but if you could, I would appreciate more than you can imagine. The reason only I'm saying all this is because I wish you happiness and healing and would like to help you get there if I possibly can.

(14,628 posts)I'm paralyzed by fear and depression. Spoke to lawyers office today suggesting skull xray and maybe mri to see what it shows. Little gun shy of dentists now tbh.
Still have to finish this g**damn tx since I prepaid. Keep hoping things will settle down. Costs for testing scaring me, since I'm barely above the poverty line.
I thank everyone for listening. Scared a DO might relocate my jaw back where it was popping. Thinking of accipuncture .
I'll probably have to pull back here, but I appreciate the care.
ETA: No, the dentist is acting like I'm nuts. I don't borrow trouble and I don't want to be a trouble maker. I just wanted my good tx to continue, and not have such a shocking aggressive touch performed on me

(55 posts)I understand your difficulty in making the decision to seek other treatment due to cost and fear. Have you asked your psychiatrist for suggestions on seeing a DO or other specialist? He/she should be able to give you direction on that as well as whether you can try something like gabapentin. I keep hoping to read that your pain is improving. You shouldn't have to live with this.
