Advice you've heard over the years, input here.

"Don't scare yourself." It's very easy to do this. You can either watch horror movies, you you can over worry about something. Simply enough, don't do it.

My father always used to give me the same analogy when I seemingly refused to take any effort to get better but would continue to complain about my depression. He said it was like I was in a burning building and everyone was telling me to get out, or jump, and the route out looked obvious to them, but I refused all advise and continued to stay inside calling for help.

When he got angry at me for being a broken record about my depression he would sometimes say it was like I was continually punching people in the face then saying sorry I couldn't help it. Funny cause he suffers from severe depression himself at times.
