Related: About this forumI just had a vivid and very realistic dream.
I was in a public place, like a convenience store, except there was an area there like a coffee shop where a guy was making a drawing that he wanted to turn into a painting. I talked to the young man for a bit, and he told me that he was poor and a recovering addict. He then told me about his harsh upbringing.
The next day, I returned to the shop and saw that the young man had created a wonderful painting. An art dealer came into the shop, took a look at the painting, and offered the kid $40 for it. I pulled the young guy aside and told him that the painting was worth much more than $40, and that he'd get a lot more for it at auction. Being poor, he was reluctant to try to make more on it. The $40 looked pretty good to him at the time. I argued with him a bit and told him that if he did not get more money for the painting at auction, I'd make up the difference to him. He then agreed with me to try to get more for it.
This dream was very realistic, almost like a day out of my ordinary life. A lot of my dreams are surreal and magical. This dream did not have that quality to it.

(10,420 posts)As you know, Peggy, I'm an amateur writer. I've never been paid for my writing, but some people do appear to enjoy it and I often give it away. I write for free.
Maybe this dream is telling me not to do that- to wait and maybe a reward will come. The young artist in the dream has parallels with a younger version of myself as well.
And it could mean something totally different.
The great psychoanalyst Marie-Louise von Franz once said that most dreams are valid for about three days. She also thought that dreams sometimes had a prognostic quality to them. We will see. Maybe I will discover a great artist in the near future.

(1,200 posts)Beats the hell out of me getting the crying baby out of the dry bathtub last night. I have heard that the people in our dreams are actually ourselves. Perhaps I was rescuing the innocent me. If only.....
