Mental Health Support
Related: About this forumBeen here for nigh on 20 years
pretty sure I'm having some sort of mental health episode.
Between the chaos that is our nation and world, and personal issues, I just want to crawl into a cave alone this "Thanksgiving." But not an option.
I think my best bet is medication to blunt my receptors. I have some old SSRIs in the medicine cabinet (paxil); old panic meds (xanax); and marijuana. The MJ seems to be the least invasive, most helpful.
Thoughts?

(25,986 posts)I've discovered edibles...which are very transportable to Grandma's house. 😉

I hope smarter people chime in here.

(10,749 posts)Also here from almost the beginning.
Also experiencing chaos in personal life.
Also don't want to get out of bed in the morning.
Also don't have that choice.
And that's with SSRIs.
No solution here. Spouse tells me to exercise, take up a hobby. Therapist tells me to meditate and do yoga (that's after 3 years of CBT).
So, no answers. We just have to barrel on through. Take joy where you can - I probably should find a way to do that on my own, but I love to follow the adventures of my adult children. I volunteer at a homeless shelter (and, yes, that does help put things in some perspective). One step in front of the other. Sounds a little trite, I suppose, but it does seem to work much of the time.

(25,986 posts)Challenging daughter, aging mother-in-law, dutiful husband. I let him know what I needed before we met up with all. I commended him for his support after. Hope it sticks.
The edibles and a little wine on the assist.
