(6,212 posts)papa says don't worry it's controlled and when it arrives leaves his kids on their own. Maybe I'm seeing it wrong.

For me, seeing my issues, coming at me at a distance and them not believing my own eyes when the mess is about overwhelm me, damaging myself and what I love because of my inability to see and act.
A very therapy reply I know.

(39,073 posts)My wife has similar scars, but most of them are simply shit that fell out of the sky. Anyone might be a passenger in a car hit by a drunk driver, a cosmic ray might turn a single cell cancerous, etc..
Most of my own scars are self-inflicted. I am an idiot who has too often stood his ground when he ought to have been running, or worse, just been a bystander in the way, slack jawed, and doing NOTHING. A man of inaction!
I'm bleeding!
I try to convince myself sometimes that my own idiocy, mental illness, or whatever you want to call it, and whatever it is I take meds for, is also something that fell out of the sky, but I'm not always successful.
