Three weeks smoke-free today

I am using an e-cig and it's making it very easy to stay away from tobacco.

I never thought I'd see this day.

Good luck to the rest of the quitters!

I found that the desire to quit was the biggest hurdle- I loved my cigarettes. After I started the thyroid meds, though, tobacco lost a lot of its appeal. It didn't feel or even taste the same anymore. I always said I would quit when I stopped enjoying it, and that's exactly what I did, and quickly!

This was one of those things that I've filed under "totally unexpected medication side effects", along with losing my cravings for junkfood.

Congrats!!!

I started with DSE901s, but those batteries were crap, and now on my 3rd PureSmoker unit - but it seems to only want to work whenever the hell it feels like it, which keeps me keeping analogs on hand out of frustration.

I'd like to try a different one, but with the explosion of mods the last few years, the e-cigarette-forum has really gotten difficult to navigate.

Recommendation?

every smoke shop in town has the cartridges and they're easy to use. The battery on it isn't fantastic either- 8-10 hours on a full charge- but it's easy to puff on and the cartridges don't taste too bad.

I started with a Fifty-One Trio but it was horrible- tasted foul and only had one air inlet so puffing it sucked in my cheeks.

My old 901s got about 2 hours of intermittent use. The PureSmoker ones got 4-5, when they felt like working. Sounds like quality has vastly improved in the last year.

I'm on Chantix now, but if it doesn't kick in soon, I am going back to the ecig.

because of all of the various problems.

The only reason my Doc approved it last month is because this is my second go round. I quit successfully a few years ago on it and tolerate it without any major problems. Stupid me - that was like the 30th quit and I thought I could have "just one".

It seem you are not addicted in smoking. With a e-cigar you will have so tasty for cigarrete. I am not accustomed to employ e-cig.

We go to Nevada to gamble once a month and sitting at a machine still triggers a desire to chainsmoke. So I smoke. Then I get sick. This month though I am not taking any analogs- just my ecig. We'll see how it goes.

The ecig keeps me away from the tobacco the rest of the month with no problems.

I have the seasonal ones - like after a long day in the garden, I remember how satisfying a cig and a cold beer was to me. Mercifully with time the triggers have faded, but I still get the pang from time to time. All of my best to you.

But not too badly- 4 cigarettes instead of the 10 or 20 I usually go through when I gamble. The cartos I've been refilling are wearing out, so my ecig didn't work all that well, so I caved in.

BUT, things are getting better. Thanks for the support!

I posted this OP almost 2 years ago, and I am still using the e-cig. I've relapsed several times- heavy stress still makes me crave real smoke, as do gambling trips to Nevada. As time passes, that's gotten less and less frequent, as well as harder and harder to do. I notice the effect on my breathing and energy levels a lot more the farther I get from being a habitual smoker, and this helps make it easier to say "Nope!" most of the time.

Don't get discouraged. It happens.

Congratulations on the 21 days! are you doing e-cigs, or gum, or just cold turkey?

I tried a few years ago and it didn't stick for me.
Just purchased an Innoki itaste and I love it! normally smoke about a pack a day, and I am WAY down. Yesterday was my first full day and I think I smoked 5 or 6 real ones. Today I had my first one at 2 PM. Already feel a big difference in my respiratory system. Like wowsers! High hopes that it's going to work.

After a coupla days of half-hearted trying, I realized that the cig was no longer appealing. I'm actually enjoying the vape more than the smoke! It became easy, and I threw out my remaining two unopened packs the next morning. I'm amazed. And I had a reason to do this now; I have surgery coming up, and I knew I'd have to stop, for a while anyway. So happy!

I'm looking at getting one of the 3.0s later this week- on an eGo right now but they really struggle with the Kanger tanks- would LOVE to have one of the iTaste 134s just because they have such a badass look to them, but they want an arm and a leg for the thing... maybe later.

Which one are you using?

Biggest congrats on the transition!

Only regret is that I didn't get one with a tank that can take the volatile flavors (like citrus). I just had a hell of a time trying to figure out the Kanger tank. I'm not very mechanical (except with my sewing machines), and the assembly diagram was worse than IKEA instructions. None of the parts in the box looked anything like the ones in the diagram. So of course I got juice up the middle .

My one piece of advice: DO NOT screw your topper down tight! Apparently it can flatten out the connection and make it not function very well. Ask me how I found out...it can be raised with a tweezers, but best not to do it in the first place.

I'm a vaper too and just passed my first year. Not completely smoke free but getting there. I started with ego, then vamo, then zmax's and then (drumroll) got a provari. For tanks I'm liking the protanks2 with aeroflow controller.

I haven't been on DU for awhile and thought I'd check in and see what was happening. I'm a bit peeved at Dem's asking for bans and wondered what was up with that? Kinda confusing because they've made such a positive difference in my life.
