Made this cake a couple of weeks ago when we celebrated my husband's 65th bday.
Used the wacky/depression cake recipe but used gluten free flour. Used almond butter instead of pb to create the edible playdoh layer between the cake layers. Frosted with chocolate buttercream and then topped with dark chocolate ganache. Served it with vanilla bean ice cream.
It was really rich and delicious.

(hope the pic shows up!)

We got about 16 slices out of it (used 2 8-in round cake pans).

Used king Arthur gluten free measure for measure flour
Edited to add: I doubled the recipe to get two 8 inch round cake layers.

Next time I will half the above recipe; also used almond butter instead of pb

Added a tablespoon of butter to give it a bit more shine

The gluten free flour and almond butter substitutions were due to allergies of various family members.
