California man dies while installing Christmas lights in high-voltage accident

A 24-year-old Escondido man died in an electrocution accident last week while installing Christmas lights, officials said.

The man, identified as Antonio Pascual Mateo, was hanging lights on the roof of a home located at 2010 Skyline Drive in Escondido, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office said in a news release.

Mateo was electrocuted at approximately 10:48 a.m. after he threw the lights over a high-voltage power line near the home,

It's tragic to hear about the accident involving Antonio Pascual Mateo. Safety should always be a priority when working near power lines to prevent such devastating incidents.
