So...I'm building a simple garden shed, when the Building Inspector pays me a surprise visit.

I try to explain that I don't need a permit for this job, but she decides to inspect anyway.

Foundation inspection (simple skid foundation on compacted A/B roadbed)

Sub-floor framing inspection

Sub-floor nailing inspection

Work has halted at this point due to heavy rain in the San Francisco Bay Area. If tomorrow is sunny (or at least not raining) I'll probably try to frame the walls and get the roof sheeted.

Not that I'm aware of. She did, however, poop on it. A comment on my construction skills, I suspect Adsos Letter Apr 2012 #7

Can't guarantee it will keep her away from the building site though...

She's not quite one year old. My wife found her and a brother about six months ago, while out walking our big dog. Someone had dumped them at the side of the road. So...now we have three dogs...

the inspector over see'er does not except you are building something for yourself. What it is you see in the eyes of the inspector is a home away from home. And the deminsions are perfectly suitable.

My suspicion is you will end up turning the building over to the inspector upon completion. As per doggie building codes .

I once had a cat that took over a a building project in just that way.
And that cat got her way about it too ,let me tell ya. There was no arguing about it with that cat.
She jumped up on it and defended her territory to no end.

What was supposed to be a hand made doll house in every detail -turned out to be a cat house in demand order.

The cat allowed the secound project to proceed without interuption ,but only after carpet was added to the roof.

How on earth do they know ? Carpet ! I had to figure that one out. When I started the secound project the cat seemed very angry at first- A carpet guy on a project gave me a scrap piece of carpet and said- it ain't finished- cover the roof with this!

It worked-and the child got a doll house with the full approval of the inspector.
