I think I took 14 giant steps forward with Gwyn, this morning (photos)

I'm now getting in extended pets and scritches - including chin scritches. I'm going to give it a bit longer before I try picking him up.

Honestly, building this much trust with an 'on the loose' feral kitten is one of the coolest things I've done in AGES.

I've had things 'ready for rescue', just in case, but had almost lost hope. I'm not going to rush it, though, because I don't want to spook the other kittens. Hopefully they will see that if their sibling is comfortable with me, they might give me a chance.

5. I got to pet and scritch the other cream kitten.

It's like they're thinking 'I should be afraid but that feels so GOOD!!!!!'

The little gray one is still keeping a distance but I'm not giving up.

I can relate to your feeling of accomplishment, it's taken about 2 years of small steps with our adopted feral but she's become a total love bug. I remember every "first" like the first time we heard her purr, the first time she jumped on the bed & slept with us (after about a year), the first time she got on the couch with us, & the first time she got on my lap, which was only about 6 weeks ago. Now that she knows lap is safe & being on lap means snuggles & pets, she's on my lap all the time. We keep telling her she used to be shy but she says we must have her confused with some other kitty.
