Is it a mousie or a real mouse?? She will carry a real mouse around like a retriever carries a duck, very deliberately and gently. Then she likes to introduce me her new friend by dropping it on the bed. It inevitably runs off and the fun starts all over.
She has unearthed a very realistic looking mousie from somewhere and has been freaking me out all day. Im not afraid of mice, I just dont want them dropped in my lap. And because of my stupid cold, I really dont feel like doing any mouse rescue and release missions.

(59,788 posts)Right off the patio. I went to investigate and there was a little dead mouse.
She was nose to nose with it.
I got her away before it went any further.

(17,013 posts)... and setup a little mouse home ? You could keep your cat trophies and feed them when they get hungry. That would be the most humane approach.
That reminds me of something that happened a few months ago. A friend has a snake. They got her a rat but she wasnt ready to eat, so they put the rat back in the box with a water dish and some food.
My rule is I cannot see the rat or else Ill have a new pet. I get that the snake has gotta eat, but I like rats.
Anyhoo, I went back over there a couple days later and the big excitement was that the rat had escaped its box and they couldnt find it. My friends daughter is terrified of rats so everyone was on edge. Of course, the next part happened while I was sitting alone at the kitchen table for a few minutes. Something caught my eye. Lo and behold, it was the rat, outside on the deck, running past the sliding glass door!
I described the rat and they said, Yep. Thats it! Im happy the rat escaped and was outside living its best life. Of course, they thought I was just playing around until I described the rat, lol!

(121,532 posts)which he did a few times when mice got into the house (he was always an indoor cat). He seemed so much more excited when he bagged the real ones. He'd just bat the toys around but when he got a real mouse he'd toss it into the air and squeal with delight, like he was spiking the ball in the end zone. And then he'd eat it, crunch crunch crunch, which was sort of horrible.

(5,198 posts)She makes this weird squealing squeaky noise and hops straight up and down, all four feet off the ground. Super excited! She wont kill them, though. She tracks them around the house while hopping and squeak-squealing and leaves it to me to do the dirty work.
