Vincent Has A New BIG Friend

Sorry, the pic is from a distance, but the scale is still sound.
Our Vincent weighs 80#. The other dog (Walter) is only 7 & ½ months old. He weighed 127# last Monday.
He's a big boy. The two of them get along great.

The small dog park is a little over 3. The second big park is 4.2 acres.
It's really nice. It's in the middle of a county forest preserve. 3 to 4 miles from the house, so convenient, too.

So, they didn't do much chasing. Just kind of milling around together.

But Opie is only 86#. Opie is 50% great Pyrenees, 25 husky, 25 border Collie. What is Walter's breed?

He looks a little different than the pictures on line, in the face & head.
But, his human told me he's AKC registered. And, he's a very nice guy so I've got no reason to believe he's wrong.

Consulting the AKC website, it indicates that males generally range between 110-150 lbs.

Its descriptors for Anatolian shepherd are: reserved, independent and loyal. Perhaps your Walter is a little more on the friendly than reserved side.

Anyway, congrats. My wife and I have a Bernese. We put down our old, extremely arthritic mastiff/German shepherd cross last April. We're keeping the door open to getting a second dog, possibly a rescue (which Duke was) to be a companion for our girl.

Independent thinkers. They guard their flocks alone and they can be headstrong so don’t expect them to instantly respond to commands, they have to think about it.

He's super socialized. He pretty much gets along with all the other dogs put there, and that's got to be 15-20 regulars.
He's a good boy with the kitties too.
Carmen really likes him.
