Merlin is starting to catch on to the whole 'walking' thing

His belly is rising from the floor and he is definitely becoming pretty mobile.

He is also sleeping longer, between meals. Right now he's snuggled up against my neck but at night he sleeps in his little basket. Well, for MOST of the night.

And GOODNESS did he push out an impressive poop, last night! Fortunately, I was prepared. Let's just say his digestive system seems to be in fine working order.

Today I'm going to put him in the playpen so that he has a nice, flat surface to practice bumbling on. My plan is to leave the opening unzipped and help him to learn how to get out.

Gryff is still the only kid cat who seems fine with the new addition. Carys' behavior is interesting. For some reason, having this kitten in the house seems to have given her a bit more confidence, although I haven't 'introduced' her to Merlin, yet. Madoc and Arthur are a work in progress.

Arthur and his siblings were 3 weeks old when I brought them to the vet for eye infections. Then they came right inside. Taking on 4 very young kittens didn't offer much time for observation.

Merlin was between 2 and 3 weeks old when I found him. It's been interesting to have the time to be very focused on watching him start to develop. Seeing him actually walk, this morning, was wonderful. Especially since I'm a little under the weather. (Negative Covid test so probably a common cold). I'm going to weigh him, again, and see how much weight he is gaining.

Right now he is, once again, curled up over my heart and snoozing.

My best friend will be here, next Monday. She just lost one of her beloved fur babies so she's very much looking forward to meeting her new 'nephew'.

keep Merlin? It will you look for a home for home once he is older, perhaps your friend that list her furbaby?

It is great to hear how well he is doing. He might actually be a great assistance in Carys’ progress. He is small enough that maybe she dies not view him as a threat.

I think they were born about a week ago. She will try to find homes for them but it wouldn't surprise me if she keeps at least one. The mom is black and she named her Salem. Now she calls the kittens Salem's Lot. Well, she's a writer and a big Stephen King fan.

Merlin has probably found his home, right here. Hopefully I can get him to the vet on Monday so he can get checked out and I can let go of some of my worries.

He's gaining health-wise and that's a great sign! He should start showing signs of growth and strength in the next day or so.

I wonder if he's related to any of the kidcats. If he is, they might tell you by closer association like Arthur and Madoc do.
