Except for Gryff, the kid cats have mostly kept their distance from Merlin. I'm letting them set the pace.
When I woke up for Merlin's middle of the night feeding I noticed that Arthur was snuggled up against my back. I sat up and little Merlin bumbled over and started pawing Arthur's tail. So, Merlin's first initiated contact with any of the kid cats was with Arthur. After a few seconds, Arthur's face took on a WTF????? expression, but there was no hissing, spitting or swatting.
I'm going to transition Merlin to eating a slurry so that I can get a little more rest. I'm really tired but of town friends are arriving on Monday so I've got plenty of stuff to do in preparation. Fortunately they have plenty of experience with tiny feline fur babies and will undoubtedly be thrilled to pitch in.
So, yes. Merlin and Arthur have made contact. This makes my day.

(27,354 posts)She's still out in the open but avoids the den, which is where I'm keeping Merlin. Arthur has been spending more time in the den, but across the room. I'm sleeping on the pull out sofa, in the den, to make middle of the night feedings easier and to spare my bed mattress from any kitten pee spills. Arthur deciding to take his favorite sleeping place back is a good sign he's coming to terms with his little Wizard.
I have little doubt that Arthur will be next to accept the new arrival. Madoc will come around. I think Merlin's tiny size kind of intimidates him.

Such an interesting clowder you have. I love hearing about their antics, esp since my home is now catless...
