Need some opinions ASAP

Our dog bandit got into it with a skunk tonight. It sprayed him. But it smells more of a musk, than a skunk. We used Hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dish soap. He was foaming at the mouth. After the bath, that stopped. Is there anything else we can do?

2. I once washed a cat with tomato juice after they got skunked. They smelt like

tomato juice instead. But that was the end of the skunk smell. The cat was really passive when I bathed him..... like he knew he stunk and wanted help.

4. I used that same combo on our Bernese after she tangled with a skunk

The shampoo I used following the peroxide, baking soda and dish soap treatment was a lemon fragrance. She came out of it without a skunk stench.

7. Not quite the same thing, but skunk story here.

We once had a skunk living on our front porch for three days in the middle of winter. We were able to get in and out of the house through the basement level garage, which helped. I was terrified that one of my two young sons (ages two and six at the time) would happily open that door and try to play with said skunk. I probably kept it locked, but it was quite a while ago, so I know longer recall such details.

Oh, and for what it's worth, this was in Golden, Colorado, and after the skunk left I was told by neighbors that the land behind our house was known locally as (brace yourself) "skunk alley".

Skunks ALWAYS have the Right-of-Way!

One winter, on a cold, snowy January day, I was down in our woods looking for a cow that was about to have a calf. As I walked, I saw a mother skunk and her three babies about 40 feet away, marching in a perfectly straight line right toward me. Remembering the above rule, I stopped and stood as still as I possibly could. The skunks kept marching toward me, and all four of them walked right over the toes of my boots! Never so much as broke step, never looked up at me, just walked on like I wasn't even there. They were at least 25 feet past me before I could even think about moving again.

I have always heard that tomato juice is one of the few things that cuts the smell. But consider this: skunk spray is oily, and Dawn dishwashing soap is good for cutting through oil. (It's why it's used for washing oil off of water birds after oil spills.) You might try using it, along with the tomato juice. Just a thought.
