She's been appearing at meal time, again, and sometimes hangs out in the kitchen. When she doesn't show up, I put her food bowl closer to the hall doorway.
Merlin has no set meal times, except for breakfast and dinner. I give him little meals of wet food or kibble, throughout the day, to help him put on weight.
Today he got a little packet of pate. After a few seconds I turned around to see Carys had invited herself to share Merlin's snack! No growling, swatting or hissing, just nosing in for some food. For her good behavior she earned a serving of wet food, all for herself.
Up until now she's given Merlin a wide berth, occasionally softly growling at him. I take this lack of any sign of discomfort or uneasiness around Merlin as a REALLY good sign.
I remain hopeful that Carys will come to me for scritches, again. It's been a long time since she's done that.

(25,691 posts)Our 12 yr old female tuxie acts like she doesn't like the other 3 cats, but it often seems like pretense - she'll growl and hiss, but typically doesn't leave the encounter, and she's often the one who starts things. Occasionally, I'll find her sitting close to one of the other cats.
I refer to them as "frenemies."

(36,439 posts)He likes the fancy feast LilSoups. I push the little dishes into the corner of his cottage and he licks them clean. I noticed today hes getting a nice thick winter coat. Thats a good sign I think.
