Gun Control & RKBA

I don't know how far these OPs will go, but be aware that GD seems to be undergoing a de facto rules change, imo. The dumping of these posts (I saw 5 this a.m.) contribute to what I think is a Rolling Exception whereby gun controller/prohibitionists are skirting the intent of GD and thereby get all their posts in all the time. So, if you wish to engage these Guns Discussionists, you will have to go over to GD.

(23,664 posts)But in the final analysis, why bother? I've heard the arguments so many times I could recite them by heart, but they all boil down to "gunz bad, oh and scary".
Do you really believe they're changing hearts and minds with that sort of fear mongering?

(12,194 posts)Thats not their goal, at least hereabouts. Their goal here on DU, is to stop us from changing hearts and minds, through a combination of shunning, ridicule, mockery, belittlement, and of course, silencing us by hides and having a group where no dissent is allowed.

(4,462 posts)Apparently, the need for interactive persuasive discussions with facts and figures has been mostly replaced by cartoons (usually the same cartoons recycled over and over). I believe gun controllers get bonus points if a cartoon references the infamous "NRA Talking Points©."

(4,462 posts)I support the RKBA, but never owned any firearms despite being eligible to do so, even here in NYC.
Does that make me a closeted or just "non-practicing" ammosexual?

(12,194 posts)In some minds, I'd wager it would make you one or the other.
I'm not all that different than you. I do own guns, but only a handgun and a couple traditional rifles. I don't carry, and I don't have any so called 'assault weapons', and I have no desire for either. And I haven't bought a gun in over ten years.
I guess that puts us in more or less the same club.

(18,318 posts)some three years ago that the greatest strength of the gun control outlook (beyond religious compliance by MSM) was its ability to worm its way into the higher choke points in the party structure, the bureaus of some big cities, and controlling entities of larger political web sites. I guess he/she took my advice.
