I’ve sent him a couple of DU Mails. Maybe he’s just reading the board and not signing in.
So if you are doing that, check in and let us know.
Otherwise we’ll start telling jokes.

I never had one get caught in the C-wire. I did have one set off a couple of our carefully laid trip flares while “checking” our position.

I’m in both pictures. The guy closest to the Bradley Fighting Vehicle is me.
I managed to get my brad stuck in the wire in Iraq. Ha!

(2,679 posts)I would not have thought that C-wire would stop a Brad.
And I’m gonna have to talked to TEB, if we can pry him away from the fucking Pet forum. He was not supposed to tell you that your my favorite LT.
Hopefully you never set off some trip flares lol.

(3,557 posts)C-wire will get wrapped around the road wheels and could even cause your vehicle to throw track. You don’t want to have mobility issues when you’re being shot at.

(3,557 posts)What you can carry on your backs is what you bring to the fight.
When I first showed up to my platoon, my Platton Sergeant said “hey sir, your just in time! We’re going on a 20 mile road march this afternoon”. I was kind of dumbfounded, then he explained to me that a road march in mech-land means you ride around in your Bradley for a while. After that, I was in love with mech.
A pretty lieutenant like me deserves to ride around in a cushy vehicle!

It’s not like I’m his field b$%.
He is a pretty boy. The mech units are like being fighter pilots. They just roll out and then come back for coffee.
But now his ass is humping a ruck. Unless his idea of roughing it is a trailer full of gear at a campsite with power
At least nobody is trying to kill him now. We cut jokes but we don’t forget what you have been through

(3,557 posts)I’ve been going through a divorce for the last couple of months and I basically fell off the face of the earth for a few weeks while I was roughing it in the woods in upstate New York. Summer is often a rough time for me (lots of shitty things happened to me in Iraq during the summer of 2004 and I usually get locked up in a psych ward during the summer) so I checked out on my own terms this time.
I’ve really gotten into hiking, camping, and roughing it and I’ve been spending a lot of time in nature and away from my ex and civilization in general. Alas, the weather is turning cold (there is a lot of ice on the tops of the mountains around here) and it is time to wander back to reality.
In the spring I hope to through-hike the entire Appalachian Trail and I’ve been trying to get myself into shape for that.
Anyways, I’m around, not stuck in concertina wire, and I’m grateful for your thoughts and concerns!

(2,679 posts)I was hoping that was the case. You being proactive like that was smart.
Going through all that shit is bad enough but it’s probably the best way to deal with it. I’d probably take the same approach on hitting the woods. I mean you don’t have a Brad to carry all your shit. But you’re at home in the woods.
You just keep rucking and stay in the fight.
You got lost practicing land nav

(3,557 posts)This last weekend I got busy packing up and getting my house ready to sell. After that, I’m officially a crazy homeless veteran. (That is, until I move into my apartment outside of Toledo on december)
